Doctrine & Covenants 104:31
“And inasmuch as they are faithful, behold I will bless, and multiply blessings upon them.”
The Lord told the Saints that “after much tribulation…cometh the blessing.” The Saints in Missouri were facing persecution and being driven from their homes and the Saints in Kirtland were preparing to come to their aid. Joseph Smith organized Zion’s Camp to peacefully return the Saints to their lands. However, it became too dangerous for Zion’s Camp to complete their mission. Even though they were not able to return the Saints to their lands in Missouri at that time, those who had endured the trek from Ohio to Missouri had learned that when they are faithful to the Lord’s commandments, they would be blessed, even if it wasn’t in the way they expected. The Lord promises that if we are faithful he will multiply blessings upon us.
“As individuals and families, we too will be tested, sifted, and prepared, as were the members of Zion’s Camp. The scriptures and the teachings of the Brethren are replete with promises that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; the making, honoring, and remembering of sacred covenants; and obedience to God’s commandments will strengthen us to prepare for, to face, to overcome, and to learn from the trials and tests of mortality.” David A.
