Trusting the Lord: Stories of Faith and Hope

Trust in the Lord is one of the greatest values we can learn as followers of Christ. It shapes the way we live, the way we love, and the way we walk through challenges. When we place our confidence in God, we are choosing to believe that His plan is better than ours and His timing is always perfect. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

This month, we’re excited to share a collection of films on Living Scriptures+ that explore what it means to truly trust in God. Each story, whether drawn from Scripture or real life, offers a unique perspective on faith in action.

Hoovey

Based on a true story, Hoovey tells the journey of a high school basketball player whose dreams are nearly crushed after a brain tumor threatens his life and future. Through his recovery, Hoovey and his family learn to trust God not only with healing but also with hope. His story reminds us that even when life takes unexpected turns, God is faithful to give strength and courage when we lean on Him.

Isaiah 26:3-4
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

Uphill Battle

Uphill Battle follows the journey of a single mother who faces overwhelming struggles, from financial hardship to the challenge of raising children on her own. Yet, through perseverance and faith, she learns to trust in God’s provision day by day. Her story shows that trust isn’t always about big miracles—it’s often about believing God will provide for today and giving Him tomorrow.

Psalm 56:3-4
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear…”

Uprooted

When a loving couple preparing for their first child meets a struggling teenager in need of guidance, they open their home and hearts to her. Through work, prayer, and honest conversations, she learns that trusting God doesn’t always mean prayers are answered the way we expect. Uprooted is a touching story about faith, second chances, and finding hope in God’s plan.

Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters…”

The Animated Old Testament: Daniel

The story of Daniel is one of the Bible’s clearest examples of trust in the Lord. Even when faced with persecution and the lions’ den, Daniel remained faithful to God. This animated retelling helps children and families see that trust is not about avoiding hard times, but about believing God is with us through them. Daniel’s story reassures us that God honors those who put their faith in Him.

Daniel 6:23
“So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.”

Why Trust Matters

Trusting God doesn’t mean life will always go smoothly, but it does mean we are never alone. It teaches us to rely on His wisdom rather than our own and to rest in His promises even when the path ahead is unclear. These films show us that whether in sports, family struggles, new beginnings, or standing firm in faith, trust in the Lord is the anchor that holds us steady.
