Last-Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Father’s Day always seems to come out of nowhere, and sometimes dads get left in the dust. Not this year! We’re going to give you some of our favorite Father’s Day gift ideas—some tried and true, some brand-new, and some straight from Living Scriptures. If you’d like a gift that kids can help with, check out the ideas listed in bold print.

1.  A Map of Memories

Is your father known for taking you on great vacations, road trips, or other adventures? Buy a cheap map or globe and mark the places Dad has taken you. Then add some photos and use colorful pens to write some of your favorite memories from your journeys with Dad. He may love your map as much as Mom loves her scrapbooks!

2. Deck Out Dad’s Lunchbox

If your husband or father takes a lunch to work every day, give him a reason to enjoy his mealtimes away from home. Find or buy a plastic or metal lunchbox. Paste pictures, jokes, and notes of love and encouragement to the inside of the lunchbox and cover it all in clear packaging tape to make it waterproof. Then Dad will smile no matter what food ends up in his lunchbox!

3. Plan a Great Date

A good dad is always looking for ways to make his wife happy, and he can always use some help! Have you overheard Mom talking about a new restaurant she’d like to check out or a movie she’d like to see? Make some reservations, preorder some tickets, or find another way to prepare a wonderful night out for your dad to enjoy (with your mom) worry-free!

4. Emergency Talk Folder

Does your husband or father give a lot of talks at church? Lessons in Sunday School? Spiritual thoughts at Scout camps? Living Scriptures can help you help him! You can download one of our free eBooks about inspiring scripture heroes, complete with study charts. With those eBooks and a few General Conference talks, your dad can be a master teacher anytime!

5. Tidy the Tools

If your dad likes building or fixing things, chances are that he has a lot of tools. If he doesn’t have his own inventory system set up already, why not organize his tools a bit? While you’re at it, you can clean a dusty tool, sharpen a dull one, or replace a broken one. You’ll have your father eager to start a brand-new project!

6. Family Photo Key Chain

Dads love to show off their families to friends, coworkers, and even strangers—make sure he can do it on the go! Head to a craft store to find a photo-frame key chain or something similar. Fill it with a recent family picture (or two photos if the frame is double-sided). Your father will love carrying you with his keys!

7. Beef Up Your Grill

Is Dad the grill master at your house? Get things ready for the barbecue of the year! Refill your grill’s propane tank, give the grill a good scrub, and replace the brush if it’s looking worn down. Then buy some top-notch steaks or burgers and your dad’s favorite sauce or marinade. That gift will be enjoyed by your father . . . and the rest of the family, too!

8. Access to the Living Scriptures Library!

Give your husband or father the gift of not having to deal with the kids fighting or complaining of boredom next Sunday. For only $10, your family can access the entire Living Scriptures library for an entire month! Whether it’s used to entertain the kids or Dad, that gift will just keep on giving.
