Daniel 6:26-27
“I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Daniel is known for his great faith. When he was a boy, he and his friends (who the king called Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego) were taken captive to serve in the king’s court. When the king wanted the boys to eat his meat and drink his wine, which was against the law of Moses, they stayed true to the Lord and refused. When the king later decreed that everyone should worship a golden statue of him, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego refused and were thrown into a firey furnace. They were unharmed, and a fourth person was seen inside the furnace with them (who looked like the Son of God!). Later, Daniel was thrown into a lion’s den because he refused to stop praying to the Lord instead of following the king’s decree to only pray to the king. The Lord shut the mouths of the lions and Daniel was unharmed. In each of these events, Daniel and his friends risked death if they didn’t do what the king asked, but they trusted in God and believed He could protect them.
“If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us….If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers.” Gordon B. Hinckley
